For me, it goes without saying that I respond to the requirements of my customers and their sales markets. I don't have a "special signature" when I design for customers. My personal taste is absolutely secondary. I design what is likely to sell well for this customer and their customers. Of course, I give advice if I think other styles should also be offered. Ultimately, however, it's the customer's decision.

That's what professionalism is all about for me.

Designing and repeating

The ability to have artistic talent is essential if you want to become a textile designer. Creating designs and putting patterns into the right pattern repeat is one of my basic activities.
 
I create designs and fabric collections for well-known international companies and am therefore the professional contact person in the field of textile design and the development of high-quality fabrics and collections.

I specialise in designs for jacquard weaving. Printed designs are of course also possible. More information about the fabric types in fabric areas.

Colourations and colour families

Harmonious colour compositions that match the design give the collection the right "touch". Colouring is an art, just like designing itself.

Especially for woven designs, colouring requires a high degree of visual imagination and experience, as the yarn colours change visually in the fabric depending on the weave.
 
It is a great advantage to have a good knowledge of weaving techniques. In addition, fabric simulations provide a good first impression of the expected result.

Simulate woven fabrics on the PC

A fabric simulation is a computer-aided process that is used to recreate the look of a woven fabric. Colours, yarns and weaves are created realistically so that excellent impressions of the expected fabric can be reproduced.

Simulations are used to analyse complex problems, optimise designs, assess risks or develop new solutions. They allow different scenarios to be tested virtually before real weaving is carried out, reducing time, costs and potential risks.
I have been working with this technique since 2005 to save on sampling costs.

Simulate designs on products

A 3D simulation is a simulation that uses three-dimensional models to imitate reality or depict certain scenarios. In contrast to conventional two-dimensional simulations, 3D simulation enables a more detailed and realistic representation of objects, environments and processes.

Example: The previously simulated fabric can then be placed as a 3D simulation on a product, which in turn can be placed in a room. This technique is usually used for presentations or catalogue designs if the end product could not previously be photographed.

Image cartridges and Jacquard data

A cartridge is a technical drawing for the production of woven, knitted and knitted fabrics. The process is called cartridgeing. In the past, the image file or the weave was drawn on small squared cartridge paper. Today, this is done on a computer. This makes some steps easier, but the creation of an image cartridge and then the corresponding binding cartridge for controlling the weaving machines is still extremely time-consuming. Depending on the design, it can take weeks before a finished weaving file is ready for production. There is also technical information such as colour sequences, selvedges and any compressions. The cartridge is the basis for a possible fabric simulation.
